Giddy Up

This was taken on my 2008 Trip to Guaymas and San Carlos Mexico. This was on a tour we were being given on horse back through the mountains and the beach. We were just heading toward a fishing town to grab lunch when I took a snapshot of our guide, Billy. I like the water, the tracks and the the skyline in this picture.

Get Ready to Fight

Taken at Williams burg Virgina, during a reenactment of a battle and the procedures at battle. I thought this was a cool look at what was happening.

Walk the 7th

This was taken for my highschool's yearbook, as a divider page, for the soul section. This cross has a ton of background and tradition to it. I like the picture, but I love the cross, it has a very sentimental meaning to me. Mainly because, it is the symbol and medallion for our school's wilderness retreat, which has been going for about 30 years. I became involved my sophomore year and fell in love with the program, it was life changing and phenomenal, and I am still active in the program. I also like the shininess of the necklace chain against the blue sky and bright sunlight.

Time

Taken on my 2006 Europe trip, in France, right outside of a chocolate factory. This bridge reminds me of the passing of time, and really interested me, so I had to capture it.

Blizzard Barn

Taken shortly after the photo below was shot, this is one of my barns in the middle of a snow storm. I like the visible snow and the way the tree frames the picture, it adds a cool touch, the fence also adds some frame to it.

Snowy Hooves

This is one of my best pictures, it was taken on my farm on a snowy December Saturday. I was so excited when I got the exposure right to catch the horse in motion and the snowflakes stopped in their tracks. This picture was picked out of thousands for the January cameo for Cleveland's Channel 3 weather calender. I was pumped when I got news of its acceptance.

God in Water

Taken on my farm, this was actually taken a couple years after the other water spicket picture. This one is unique because of the cross the water the barn siding make. It took me awhile to compose and frame this shot, as simple as it looks. Again, the water is so clear and shiny, it makes me thirsty every time I look at it.

Eye-quus

Look into the horse's eye and you will be able to see me actually taken the photo, as well as two other horses in the pasture at the time. I just like the unique-ness and idea of this picture. The meaning of the title is confusing for those of you who do not know any Latin. In Latin "equus" means horse, so I manipulated the word a bit to fit the picture.

"Where there was only one set of footprints I carried you"

I really like this picture, taken on Vanderbilt Beach in Naples Florida, mainly because it looks as if the footprint is inverted and coming in toward the picture, when in fact the footprint is depressed into the sand. This was also taken on Good Friday, around 3p.m.

Enjoy

Right before thanksgiving dinner, I saw the candle light and the fancy glasses ready to be filled with red wine, and the dim light over the family dinner table. I just had to capture this one because of the composition. I like the reflections of in the glass, and the candle light seemingly illuminating the scene.

Harvest

This beautiful crop was captured at the Red Wagon Farm on a sunny, but rather cold November day, during a nice little family day trip. We ate fresh apples, went on a hay ride, and walked through a very confusing corn maze. As I was being rushed to hurry and find the stamps we had to collect which made the maze more of a hassle then a good time, I quickly framed and snapped this in one shot. I was therefore glad I was rushed, because I would of analyzed the scene more and most likely wouldn't of got the same result as I did.

Ancient

This is another favorite picture from Malta, in 2006. Titled for the old, stone like and ancient feel it has to it. This is just a small arena used for meetings and decoration. The leaves in the top right add tremendous character to the photo. Not much to the photo but I like it, because of its simplicity.

Livin' On the Edge

Captured in the basement of my grandfather's house on Christmas day, shortly after opening presents. I like the detail in the table, the nature lighting in the room that gives it a "pool" look, and the contrasting colors from the floor, the cue ball, and the table. This picture also suggests the ball stopped in its tracks and is now sitting on the edge. This can be applied to life sometimes, this metaphor inspired the name of this picture, which I feel fits perfectly.

Fear is One's Only Weakness

Also taken in Malta on the same boat tour as the picture below, obviously this turned out to be a successful tour, even though i didn't learn a thing about the area (could not understand a thing the guide said). I like how the huge cliff face makes the boat seem tiny and insignificant. I also like the texture of the rock. I only had a short time to get this shot right and I nailed it on the second try. :-)

He Stands Alone

This was taken on my second journey out of the country where I went to Malta, Italy, and France, with the same program, People to People, in 2006. This is the view of inside a cave looking out into the ocean, in Malta. We were on a boat tour and right as we went into this dark cave, I turned around and saw a beautiful photo op.

Rural Technology

This was also taken on my farm in 2006. I saw the tractor and thought it was a perfect subject for what I wanted that day. I like this picture because of two things: the ironic dark shadow the light casts, a item that is supposed to brighten things, and the way the smoke stack and clouds mesh together, making the clouds look like smoke coming out of the tractor. Sophomore year I submitted this to an online contest and won second prize.

She's Sprung a Leak

Again, one of my early shots, taken I think in 2006, was on my farm in Northeastern Ohio. The sun was out and I was walking down the yard thinking of something cool to capture and I looked at the spicket and took a picture of it in the "off" position, and thought it had potential, but something didn't look right. So I switched angles and exposures and all kinds of stuff, but nothing. Then I thought I should just lift the handle and add some action, some uniqueness to it, and there you go. Every time I look at this picture I get thirsty because of how clear and shiny the water appears. This picture was also published in 2007, in the International Photography Book.

Beach Birds

This is another one of my picture from my 2005 Australia trip. I took this standing on a heavily populated touristy beach in Tangalooma. I was grateful for not only the position of the birds, but also the fact that none of the beach goes ran into my picture. This picture is slightly edited, but nothing extreme, this is the scene that was captured. So far my little consumer camera was amazing me, and so was my certain view of things.

Pathway to Heaven

This picture is also from my early adventures, and is also one of my firsts. This was taken on my first trip out of the country to a little island called Australia. I did a tour of the East side for three weeks with a program called People to People, when I was in eighth grade. We were hiking up one of the natural reservations, I think it was near Coffs Harbour, toward the top I noticed the path looked like it was leading straight up to the sky. So I knelt down and captured the scene, with my little point and shoot that I was beginning to love, and was really happy with the result. At this point, the way I would judge if a photo was good or not was I would picture it as the background for the desktop of a computer and if I thought it would work well, I dubbed the picture a good one. This is obviously not how I critique photos now, but at the time it made sense and worked well for me.

Match Point

This was my first picture. It is what got me into photography in the first place. The way this turned out and looks was actually an accident, seeing as I had no knowledge of exposure, and had a crappy point and shoot at the time, I only composed the shot and pushed the button, and that is where it all started at that moment. Because when I looked at the result in the little LCD of the camera I was amazed and immediately addicted to learning how to create more stuff like this.
